Happy New Year!

As our calendar year closed, we celebrated the most successful fundraising year in Huntsman Cancer Foundation’s 23-year history.  A surprise $500,000 matching gift challenge in mid-December added more than $1.3MM in additional donations and 586 first-time donors.  In all, donors gave more than $120 million in 2018.

Thanks to the phenomenal support we received in 2018, we were able to announce an expansion of our clinical space more quickly than we could ever have hoped.   The addition will add 50 more private inpatient rooms, increase the number of outpatient clinics, and also grow our cancer wellness and supportive oncology services. THANK YOU! The Kathryn F. Kirk Center for Comprehensive Cancer Care and Women’s Cancers was named by Spencer and Kristen Kirk to honor Spencer’s mother.  Other major donors include the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, doTERRA International, and an anonymous donor.

The New Year begins with more great news.  On January 11, 2019, the Huntsman Family announced yet another generous gift to support the Kathryn F. Kirk Center for Comprehensive Cancer Care and Women’s Cancers.  This additional $30 MM gift comes from the Huntsman private family foundation.  It allows us to dream even bigger.  Thanks to this gift, the new center will grow from an original 102,000 square feet to 200,000 square feet.

The Huntsman family has once again extended immense generosity and kindness to help our community in an area of critical need. As it has done since HCI’s founding in 1993, the family is looking toward the future and anticipating ways they can offer hope and optimism in the face of this dreaded disease. We are very grateful for the family’s vision and loyal support.

So we close 2018 with much to celebrate, and we begin 2019 with full hearts.  Oh joy!  Oh joy! Let our optimism light the way!

With gratitude,
