Patient and Huntsman Hero Dan Nelson set out to ride the 30-mile segment of the Huntsman 140 in spite of a terminal brain cancer diagnosis. When Dan wasn't sure he could make it up the last hill, his #DanStrong team of family and friends was there to push him to the top. In the hardest of times, Dan and his wife Dianne have never been alone.

The Huntsman 140: 140 Miles for a Cure

Each year, hundreds of cyclists hit the road between Delta and Salt Lake City, Utah. Many ride 25 miles, a few ride the full 140. All ride to find a cure for cancer. Now in its sixth year, the Huntsman 140 event is a fundraiser to support cancer research at Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI). The 2016 goal is $525,000.

Cancer Champion: Jeff Warren

The day after Christmas in the year 2000, Jeff Warren received devastating news: he had stage IV head and neck cancer, which gave him—at best—a 25% chance to live five years. His radiation oncologist could see Jeff struggling with the diagnosis. The physician wrote down his home phone number and gave it to Jeff, saying, “If there’s anything you need, anytime, call me. I’m here for you.” That moment made an impression on Jeff. He says, “I realized I was working with a physician who felt he and his institution had some skin in the game. It wasn’t just that I was a patient, or a number, or one of the many. To him I was an individual.”
