Bursting with flavor and antioxidants, this recipe is the perfect ending to a summer meal.

  • 16 strawberries, stemmed
  • 16 cherries
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • Kosher salt
  • 4 wooden skewers
  • Vegetable oil
  • Sweetened whipped cream, optional

In a small bowl, toss together strawberries, cherries, vinegar, sugar, and a pinch of salt. Place a strawberry on a wooden skewer followed by a cherry. Repeat with remaining strawberries and cherries. Reserve marinade. Set aside.

Heat grill to medium-high. Dip several paper towels in a container filled with vegetable oil and oil the grill grate.

Grill skewers until each side of the strawberries has grill marks, about 30 seconds per side. Transfer to a plate. Use a pastry brush to put remaining marinade on fruit.

Serve with sweetened whipped cream, if desired.
