Leave dorms at 9:00 am. Drive and stop for a quick lunch on the way. When we arrive in Moab, students will set up tents and get gear organized. Then we will have dinner in town.
Saturday, May 25:
Trip Type: Full day, river rafting
River Segment: Colorado River, Fisher Towers section
Meeting Time/Place: 8:30 a.m. @ Moab Valley RV Park, 1773 N. Hwy 191 in Moab
Departure Time: 8:45 a.m.
Return Time: Approx. 4:00 p.m. (varies according to water level and wind conditions)

Trip Description: You'll board the Canyon Voyages Adventure Co. vehicle and travel to the put-in at Hittle Bottom, 23 miles northeast of Moab. After boarding the rafts, you will travel down river approximately seven miles to the lunch stop, usually a sandy beach area. After lunch, you'll continue another 7 miles to the ending point at the BLM take-out beach. After the guides load the equipment back onto the trailer, you'll board the Canyon Voyages Adventure Co. vehicle and return to Moab. The full-day river segment features mostly calm, meandering currents, as well as six rapids that are rated mostly class I and II on the international scale. You'll have the option of paddling inflatable kayaks for a portion of your trip if you wish. This section of the Colorado River features spectacular scenery, including 1000-foot canyon walls, red sandstone towers and mesas. The peaks of the LaSal Mountains are also visible in the distance. People often bring cameras on this trip, however, we cannot guarantee against water damage. Instead, we recommend purchasing a disposable waterproof camera (available at our office) if you wish to take photos.
What To Bring/Wear Rafting: Shorts, t-shirts and/or bathing suits are appropriate during the main season (June – August). In early or late season months (March, April, May, Sept. & Oct.), a jacket or sweatshirt is recommended along with wool socks. Footwear is always required. We recommend either tennis shoes or river sandals. Neoprene river boots are available for rent at the Canyon Voyages office. Other recommended items: hat/visor, sunglasses, sunscreen, waterproof camera. All items are available for purchase at the Canyon Voyages office.
Note: Final number of participants and the final trip payment is due by Friday, May 15th. Until then, there is no penalty for changes in group numbers. After May 15th, the cancellation policy shown below will be in effect. All participants are required to sign an "Acknowledgement of Risk" form prior to participating in any Canyon Voyages Adventure Co. activity.
We will have dinner in town in the evening.
Sunday, May 26:
Pack up and leave. Some vans may visit some petroglyphs on the way home.
