PhD, MD, MD/PhD application should include the following:

  • Your curriculum vitae
  • A two- to four-page summary of your research project with title. Summarize the problem (including strategic literature references), what you have accomplished so far, and your research goals
  • Supporting letters from your major professor and two additional professors familiar with your research, including comments on your current aptitude for science and your future promise for biological research. Comments that rank your abilities (for example, "in the top 5% of postdocs I have known in this department") are especially helpful.
  • A clear statement of the relevance of your project to cancer research
  • Indicate if you are a minority or from a disadvantaged background (e.g. first generation to go to college).

Graduate Student applications should include the following:

  • Your curriculum vitae.
  • Copies of your academic transcripts.
  • Copy of the original report of your GRE scores.
  • A short (2-4 pages) carefully thought out summary of your research project with a title. Summarize the problem (include some strategic literature references), what you have accomplished so far, and your research goals.
  • Supporting letters from your thesis advisor and one additional professor who are familiar with your research. At least one of these should have served on your prelim committee. We would like them to comment on your current aptitude for science and your future promise for biological research. Ranks scores are helpful, for example, "top 5% of grad students in the department who I have known".
  • Graduate students must have completed their preliminary exams. This requirement can be waived only under exceptional circumstances.
  • Indicate if you are a minority of from a disadvantaged background (e.g. first generation to go to college).
  • The primary criteria for selection will be the scientific excellence and cancer-focused relevance of your project.
