The High Risk Breast Cancer Clinic has two goals:
- To serve as a research resource for breast cancer investigations
- To provide education and genetic counseling to
individuals and families at increased risk of developing breast cancer
The clinic is one of six National Cancer
Institute-funded breast cancer registries (a Cooperative
Family Registry for Breast Cancer Studies) with a purpose to collect data and specimens on men and women from families with an increased incidence of breast and/or
ovarian cancer.
The High Risk Breast Cancer Clinic has enrolled more than 800 participants, and enrollment of additional
participants will be based on specific research
questions. We are currently expanding our participant
base primarily by enrolling family members of those
already enrolled in the clinic.
If you have a strong family history of breast and/or
ovarian cancer, you may wish to be seen in our
Family Cancer
Assessment Clinic. This is a fee-for-service clinic
for individuals who have concerns about their risk of
developing cancer based on family history.
