Huntsman Cancer Institute demonstrates its continuing commitment to translational research with the first Director's Translational Research Initiative. This annual program has the following specific goals:

• to promote collaborative scientific interaction between basic and clinical investigators within HCI and the University of Utah
• to provide assistance for investigators seeking rapid clinical translation of novel basic and preclinical observations
• to engage clinical investigators with appropriate basic or technologic science expertise to investigate novel cellular, molecular, histopathologic, and imaging strategies in conjunction with HCI clinical trials
