Sharon Weinstein, MD, FAAHPM is director of Huntsman Cancer Institute's Pain Medicine and Palliative Care Program and a member of the Cancer Control and Population Sciences Program. She is also a professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and an adjunct associate professor in the Departments of Neurology and Medicine at the University of Utah School of Medicine.
The Pain Medicine and Palliative Care Program provides services designed to help people with cancer live as fully as possible. Weinstein is a neurologist with expertise in pain and symptom control. She also assists with decision making during times of difficult life and treatment choices. Pain Medicine and Palliative Care is holistic in that it keeps in mind the patient's physical needs, emotional well-being, personal values, and family concerns.
Weinstein joined Huntsman Cancer Institute from M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. She trained at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. She has more than twenty years' experience in the health arts, with a background in massage therapy, dance therapy, and Eastern medicine.
Weinstein is a Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine; and is ABMS Board Certified in Neurology, Pain Medicine, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
Her work is dedicated to ensuring physical comfort and helping patients and families maintain quality of life while respecting their values and preferences.
