Li Wang, PhD
Assistant Professor, Departments of Medicine and Oncological Sciences
Li Wang, PhD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine and an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Oncological Sciences at the University of Utah. She is an investigator at Huntsman Cancer Institute and a member of the Cell Response and Regulation Program.
The Wang lab studies the function of nuclear receptors in metabolic diseases and cancer development associated with microRNA dysregulation. Wang has shown that the nuclear protein SHP plays an important role in controlling the checkpoint of cellular growth, apoptosis, and the development of liver cancer. Her lab is interested in identifying microRNA oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes involved in tumor progression.
Wang received a PhD from Sun Yat-Sen University in China and her post-doctoral training at Baylor College of Medicine.
