
Howard Colman, MD, PhD

Howard Colman, MD, PhD, is a Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) investigator. He is an associate professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Utah School of Medicine and Director of Medical Neuro-Oncology at HCI, where he is also a member of the multidisciplinary brain tumor research team.
Colman's clinical interests include the treatment of primary and metastatic brain tumors and the diagnosis and management of neurologic complications of cancer. His clinical research is focused on the development and testing of new therapies for brain tumors. His laboratory interests include the identification of molecular markers of prognosis and treatment response in brain tumors and the role of tumors stem cells in the development and treatment resistance of brain tumors.
Colman completed his medical education at Washington University School of Medicine and a fellowship at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, before joining HCI.
