MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Huntsman Cancer Institute Sarcoma Service is to
- Provide compassionate, comprehensive, state-of-the-art, interdisciplinary care of patients of all ages with benign and malignant conditions involving soft tissues and bones.
- Understand the biologic origins of these conditions through basic and translational scientific research.
- Develop novel and innovative therapies through clinical research based upon these investigations, thereby improving cure rates and overall outcome.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Huntsman Cancer Institute (HCI) Sarcoma Service's multidisciplinary team of clinicians and researchers are experts in diagnosis and treatment of soft tissue and bone tumors in patients of all ages.
The Sarcoma Service has two specialty clinics located at HCI and Primary Children's Medical Center (PCMC). Adults are seen at HCI, and children are seen at PCMC. As younger patients grow up, they can continue to see the same physician in our adult clinic. This continuity of care help us provide the best health care for all our patients.
In both locations, physicians from multiple disciplines come together to formulate the best treatment plan for each patient. Patients and their families can obtain expert opinions from several specialists in a single appointment.
HCI Sarcoma Service conducts ongoing studies investigating causes and treatments for sarcomas. Our patients have the opportunity to participate in clinical trials of new treatments.
